OakTree Digital Announces Launch of Groundbreaking Online Training for Oregon Restaurant Education Foundation (OREF)
PORTLAND, OR – (May 8, 2008) - OakTree Digital announces the release of the first and only Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) approved online initial alcohol server course. Created by OakTree for the Oregon Restaurant Education Foundation, this online training allows alcohol servers to complete training online that was previously only available in the classroom.
Part of the process of approving the course to satisfy the classroom requirement entailed rigorous review by the OLCC. In order to simulate closely the experience of classroom training with elearning, OakTree stayed away from a flat, PowerPoint style course that many people have come to associate with online training. The final product is a highly interactive course that uses video, quizzes, case studies, and exercises to fully engage the user.
The ASE Online course makes extensive use of video, which was filmed at local Portland spots Kells and McCormicks using local actors. The embedded video provided a way to enhance the experience beyond flat text and images. The course uses a train metaphor to guide the learner through the required curriculum by associating each unit with a different location in Oregon.
