OakTree Digital and happy, inc. have partnered with the Portland Development Commission and the City of Portland Mayor's Office to pilot a new initiative called Business Portland. The concept for the Business Portland website came from City leaders and members of the business community who had expressed a desire to consolidate resources that are vital to starting and growing businesses in Portland. Further, businesses have expressed a desire to improve opportunities for networking and connecting with industry peers.
In late December, the PDC contracted with OakTree and happy to fast-track the first phase of the Business Portland website, which was intended to launch in time for Mayor Sam Adams' February 5th "State of the City" address. The first phase (or pilot) was intended to launch a new brand, provide PDC and City administrators the ability to easily administer site content, and to deliver a first set of resources that would help businesses looking to relocate to Portland, or expand a business in Portland. After agreeing to brand/logo concepts and an overall creative direction for the pilot website, OakTree developed the website on the Drupal platform, integrating a blog, social media services, and embedding the following video from Sam Adams:
